Hello all,

So good ole' Mother Nature made a tough go of our last month's Green Drinks event so this month we are planning to have 2 events to make up for it!

I am pleased to announce that The Innovation Center @ Rochester Institute of Technology and Dave Vail have been kind enough to donate their space & time to do a strawbale construction demonstration! Dave is a good friend of mine and has been a strawbale contractor for at least 13 strawbale projects in the Northeast. If you are interested in building with bales, Dave is your guy! For the demonstration, Dave will be plastering a strawbale test wall (just a few bales) for everyone to see plaster ingredients, placing bales, construction tips, ect. Dave and myself will also be presenting strawbale AND cordwood techniques at 2 April Earth Day events (Cornell Coop Ext & Hamlin Beach ). Spring is coming which means outdoor hands-on workshops, events, tours and presentations to come!

Also....As a response to the many requests I have received to learn more about this company, I have been talking with executives at WindTamer for a while now tyring to get a Rochester presentation of their next generation in wind harnessing technology. We have tentativly scheduled 10am -12am, Saturday, March 20th at the Visual Studies Workshop on 31 Prince St, Rochester....I will notify everyone if there are any changes/cancellations. Here is a quick blurb about the company:

Founded in 2002 by American inventor, entrepreneur and Upstate New York native Gerald E. Brock, WindTamer Corporation is an independent developer of wind turbine technology.

Formerly "Future Energy Solutions, Inc.," WindTamer Corporation is making small wind power a practical source of alternative energy for a variety of applications. In 2003, Brock was issued his first patent on his wind turbine technology.

WindTamer Corporation became a publicly traded company on November 16, 2009. It is traded on the OTC Bulletin Board Market under the trading symbol WNDT.

With its breakthrough technology and sound engineering, WindTamer Corporation works hard at continually making improvements to attain the highest level of efficiency.

Look forward to seeing you all at both events!

Cheers,

Peter

Hello all,

We have a great turn out for last month's meetup at Freshwise Farms and got an amazing tour from our new friend Tom! I recommend all of you who could not make it to take the trip there to see what they are doing, plus the vegetables are delicious!

About Us

Our goal is to help lower the environmental impact of the homes and lives of those living in the greater Rochester area. To reach that goal we provide workshops in sustainability, promote local green events, provide a free local resource in sustainable information, and create connections to other green organizations throughout New York. We hope we will be the first stop on your journey to a deeper understanding of sustainability.
